Obituary for Larry L. Meyer
Larry LuVerne Meyer was born to Hugo and Vera (Berdick) Meyer in Holstein. When he was 16 years old, Larry was stricken with polio and was in an iron lung for 3 months. The family moved to Hornick and then Castana. Larry attended mechanic's school in Onawa for a year and a half. On June 21, 1958, Larry and Argene Wilson were united in marriage in Sioux City. The couple moved to Holstein and then to Correctionville. While he continued farming, Larry opened Meyer Repair, using his mechanical skills and custom farming. Larry absolutely loved being on his farm and "playing" on tractors of all sizes, from riding lawnmowers to full-size tractors. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. Larry was also talented with his hands which he demonstrated in his woodworking hobby. Family members left to treasure their memories of Larry include two sons, Steve Meyer and his wife, Renate of Correctionville and Mitchell Meyer; five grandchildren, Christopher Meyer, Jeremy Meyer and his wife Allissa, Nathan Meyer and his wife Lauren, Michael Meyer, and Christina Senski and her husband John; five great grandchildren, Reina, Blade, Chaeli, Tatijna, and Mercedes; two brothers, Boyd and his wife, Lenore Meyer of Holstein and Jerry and his wife Sue McClune of Salix; and two sisters, Audrey Huelsdonk of Lincoln, NE, and JoAnn Bauer of Argenta, IL. Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Argene who passed away on December 23, 2014; his parents, Hugo and Vera Meyer; his step parents; two brothers; and a grandson.
