Larry E. Wunschel, age 64, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at his residence of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Peace Lutheran Church of Wall Lake, Iowa, with Rev. Roger Carlisle officiating.

Larry Eugene Wunschel, age 64, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed December 21, 2021, after a short battle with cancer, in his home surrounded by his family.
Larry was born on June 30, 1957, in Lake City, Iowa, to Eugene and Sandra (Harms) Wunschel. He spent his childhood just outside of Wall Lake, Iowa, on the family farm, graduating from Sac City Community School with the class of 1976.
On May 11, 1985, Larry was united in marriage to Kathy Jo Livermore at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Larry and Kathy moved around the Lake View and Wall Lake area. They decided to settle in Mapleton, Iowa, to raise their family. Larry and Kathy were blessed with four children: Emily, Larry Jr., Colby, and Claire. They were also foster parents for 21 years, sharing their home with many special children.
Throughout the years Larry worked on farms, road construction, and driving the semi. He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, going to the casino, camping, playing bags, watching football (Go Hawks), and playing cards with friends and family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Kathy; his children: Emily (Clint) Lamb of Salix, Iowa, Larry Jr. (Maggie) Wunschel of Waukee, Iowa, Colby Wunschel of Mapleton, Iowa, Claire Mikkelson of Mapleton, Iowa and Adreana Wunschel of Mapleton, Iowa; grandchildren: Liam Lamb, Nolan Lamb, Kaison Wunschel, Kailyn Wunschel and Kohen Wunschel; siblings: Albert (Carol) Wunschel of Lytton, Iowa, Jeannette Mauer of Wall Lake, Iowa, Eugene “Fred” Wunschel Jr. of Lake View, Iowa and John Wunschel of Wall Lake, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Anne Livermore of Mapleton, Iowa and Peggy (Kimbo) Ketelsen of Castana, Iowa; brother-in-law Mark Livermore of Mapleton, Iowa; and his favorite mother-in-law Deloris Livermore of Mapleton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Sandra Wunschel; sister Nancy Wunschel; father-in-law Wayne Livermore; and brother-in-law Dennis Livermore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
