Obituary for LaVeda Dose
LaVeda D. Dose, 82, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The funeral service will be Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa with Pastor Scott Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19 after 4:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. Visitation resumes Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at the church. On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.armstrongfuneral.com. LaVeda Deon Dose was born March 20, 1931, in Sioux City, Iowa, the eldest daughter of Albert and Goldie (Clausen) Wonder. The family lived at Correctionville, Iowa where LaVeda started school. At age 12, she moved with her parents and sister to Danbury, Iowa when her father started farming. La Veda completed her formal education there. While living in the community, LaVeda met Gilbert George Dose. The couple were married October 29, 1950, the first wedding in the new St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Gilbert and LaVeda lived, farmed, and raised their children near Danbury on the family farm on the hill west. LaVeda cherished her years with her husband and family life on the farm. Gilbert passed away February 22, 1997. LaVeda later moved to Mapleton. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church having been baptized in May of 1944 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith April 7, 1950. Family members left to treasure their memories of LaVeda include one son, Paul and Donna Dose of Danbury, Iowa; two daughters, Susan and Rob Kliever of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Cathy Dose of Onawa, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nate Kliever and Stephanie Bohan, Tanya Branhann and her husband Mike, Michelle Weber and her husband Brett, Dennis Boysen and his wife Jennifer, and Ryan Boysen and his wife Stacey; eight great grandchildren, Draven Olson, Ashlynn Struve, Tristin and Trey Boysen, Lexi, Claire, and Bradyn Weber, Lauren Boysen and one Kliever great granddaughter on the way. one sister LaVonne Keleher and her husband Ronald of Sioux City, Iowa; and multiple other extended family members. Along with her husband, LaVeda was preceded in death by her parents.
