The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrong funeral.com. Kim Maxine (Harrison) Hieber was born November 18, 1956, at the Army base in Denby, Virginia, the daughter of Duane and Audrey (Hansen) Harrison. When Kim was an infant her mother felt the need to return home to Iowa, so in 1957 the family moved back to Battle Creek. It was there that Kim grew up and graduated as salutatorian of the Battle Creek High School class of 1975. In her youth, Kim was accomplished at showing Western Pleasure Quarter horses, a passion she carried throughout her life. She started working at the First State Bank in Battle Creek and later transferred to the same bank firm at Ida Grove. She later worked at the International dealership for Kenny Bauer where she kept the books. Soon Case took over International where she continued to work. Never afraid of work or improving herself, Kim worked for Daryl Larrson Insurance and the Battle Creek Group Home. ξKim met Dan Hieber when he and his family owned and operated Hieber's Inn at Battle Creek. They were married October 10, 1981 at the Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. They lived south of town and began farming together in 1985. It was during this time that they started their own family, Drew, Dana, and Devon. The family continued to live on their farm near Battle Creek until 2002, when they moved west of Mapleton with a Castana address. Drew and Dana graduated from BCIG and Devon graduated from MVAO. Kim was a true farmer sharing in every aspect of the work on the farm along with Dan. Above that and all else, she loved her children and tended to their needs and development. Family always came first. She never missed any of her kids events and eventually her grandchildren's events were a priority as well. Along with horse riding, Kim enjoyed bowling with her friends. For 14 years, Kim loved the snowmobiling trips she and her family spent with her parents and family. Kim loved the family trips she, Dan and the kids all shared across the United States. In recent years, Kim loved the continued traveling, fishing, playing poker, and yet above all time spent with the grandchildren. Those survivors left to cherish Kim's life and legacy are her husband, Dan; her children, Drew Daniel Hieber of Mapleton, Dana Jean (Hieber) Hanson and her husband, Jamie of Danbury, and Devon Joseph Hieber and his wife, Avery of Castana; her grandchildren, Dierks and Wyatt Hieber, Kaeson, Kael, and Daelyn Hanson, Brynlee Hieber, Madison Paulsen, and Dillon, Sophie, and Greyson Hieber; her father, Duane Harrison of Battle Creek; her brothers, Kenneth Harrison and Todd Harrison and his wife, Karen, all of Battle Creek; her mother-in-law, Wanda Hieber of Castana; and numerous extended family members; and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Harrison; her father-in-law, Larry Hieber; and her very good friend, Linda Hamman.
