Obituary for Kelly K. Lehmkuhl
Kelly K. Lehmkuhl, age 49, of Ute, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the spring. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Ute, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online www.armstrongfuneral.com.

Kelly Kaylee Lehmkuhl, the daughter of Virgil and Shirley (Tallman) Phillips, was born April 20, 1969, in El Paso, TX. She grew up in El Paso and received her education at Coronado High School graduating with the class of 1988. Kelly continued her education at the University of Texas and received an associate’s degree. She entered the workforce as a nursing assistant and was employed by a variety of nursing homes.

In 2001, Kelly ventured to Connecticut for short-term employment during a nursing strike happening in the state. It was while in Connecticut she met Steven Lehmkuhl. The couple were married on June 9, 2001 and they along with daughter Kelsie moved to London, KY. The family resided in Kentucky for a year before moving back to Texas. In 2011, they moved to Nebraska to be closer to Steve’s parents. They eventually settled in Ute, IA in December of 2013.

Kelly loved shopping, interior decorating, and making floral arrangements. She also enjoyed being on Facebook and reading. The greatest joy of her life was spending time with her grandson Jaxson. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband Steven Lehmkuhl of Ute, IA; daughter Kelsie Liljendahl and grandson Jaxson Liljendahl of Ute, IA; parents Virgil and Shirley Phillips of Cheyenne, WY; sister Krystal (Brent) Willis of Cheyenne, WY; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
