Katherine “Dottie” Maguire, the daughter of Bernard and Eva (Sharkey) Karhoff, was born on April 17, 1933, on the family farm in rural Danbury, Iowa. Dottie grew up in the Danbury area until the age of three when her family relocated to a farm southeast of Anthon, Iowa. She received her education from St. Joseph Catholic School through 8th grade and graduated from Anthon High School with the class of 1951.

After graduation, Dottie began a career as a bookkeeper for the Quaker Oats Company where she met the love of her life, Leo Maguire. The rest is history; the couple was united in marriage on June 26, 1954. They made their home on a farm west of Anthon and were blessed with four children: Kate, Pat, Becky, and Tim.

Dottie devoted her time to raising her family. She was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Anthon where she served on the altar society. Dottie was also a member of several card clubs, the Anthon Women’s Club, and The Red Hat Society.

In 1997 Dottie moved off the farm to town. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, coffee time with friends, and spending time with her family. Thanks mom, for being our biggest fan always!

Those left honoring her memory include her children Kathryn “Kate” Stessman, Patrick “Pat” Maguire, Rebecca “Becky” (Jim) Venteicher, and Timothy “Tim” Maguire; grandchildren Amanda (Matt) Mead, Andrea Venteicher, Kristine (Chad) Maier, Joel (Kim) Venteicher, and Samuel Maguire; great-grandchildren Jackson, Madelyn, Kylie, Kadence, Roan, Brindle, Sage, Jeremiah, Madelyn, Faith, Jocelynn, and Hunter.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Eva Karhoff; husband Leo Maguire; siblings Marian Sevening and Robert Karhoff; son-in-law Jim Stessman; brother-in-law Albert Sevening and sister-in-law LaVonne Karhoff.
