John H. Chedester Ute, Iowa - John H. Chedester, 66, of Ute, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. The funeral service will be Friday, September 19, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, Iowa. Pastor Marcus Manley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion Aaby Post #442 and the VFW Post # 5605, both of Ute. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. John Henry Chedester was born August 22, 1948, at Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Glenn, Sr. and Alice (Campbell) Chedester. He received his early education in Colorado Springs. The family moved to Ute in 1963. John served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War. He returned to Iowa upon his honorable discharge. Survivors include one sister, Bernice Schuitema of Okoboji, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
