Obituary for Jimmy Glen Wood, Sr.
Jimmy Glen Wood, Sr., age 69, of Hornick, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Bob Dillion will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Committal Services will be held at a later date. The Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online www.armstrongfuneral.com.

Jimmy Glen Wood, Sr. was born November 28, 1948, to Glen and Lola (Lane) Wood. Jimmy was raised in the farming community between Mapleton, IA and Castana, IA next to Timberidge. He was a farm boy. Jimmy attended Maple Valley High School and graduated with the class of 1967. Jimmy excelled in music and was a member of the madrigal choir. He also participated in band playing his father’s French horn.

Jimmy worked for his father in the land leveling business working side by side with his brother Mike and sister Pam. He left the family business in 1990 and became an owner/operator truck driver. Jimmy always took his golf clubs in his big semi. He played golf in every state he traveled to for work.

Jimmy and wife Brenda participated in music ministry. His favorite singer was bass singer J.D. Sumner. He loved golf and growing tropical plants at their home. He was also a wonderful bowler.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife and soulmate Brenda Wood. When people would ask him how long they had been married, he would say forever. He is also survived by their children: Michelle Pierick, Jimmy Wood, Jr., Kimberly Mikkelsen, Jason (Karen) Wood, Kerri Wood, Karen (D.J.) Bell, Bill Gotto, David Collins and Andrew Hansen; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; special brother Bryan Struble; brother Michael (Betty) Wood; special relatives Bill Campbell, Kathleen Brown and Mike Keating; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Lola Wood; sister Pam Prell; his maternal and paternal grandparents; aunt and uncle Harlan and Julie Ives; and his special puppy Peanut Wood.
