Obituary for Jan Wacheldorf
Janet K. Wacheldorf, 59, of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Mapleton, Iowa died Saturday, July 18, 2015, peacefully at her daughter's home in San Antonio. The memorial service will be Friday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton with Pastor Jim Epperson officiating. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa is a contact source for arrangements. ξJanet Kay Wacheldorf was born June 6, 1956, at Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Darlene (Leisinger) Wacheldorf. She attended Maple Valley School in Mapleton and Danbury and graduated with the class of 1974. She was a happy and fun person who made lasting friendships while in school. She lived in Mapleton, Onawa, Soldier, and Moorhead, Iowa before moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1987, to attend Northwest Schools of Flight where she graduated with honors to obtain her airline crew diploma. She then began working for America West Airlines. Janet had an incredible talent for interior and exterior design, loved spending time with her children, their families and her beloved grandchildren, her "Angel Munchkins". Those survivors left to cherish Janet's memory include her two children, Chad and his fianc��, Angela of San Tan, Arizona and Nicole and her husband Josh of San Antonio, Texas; her five grandchildren, Skylar, Kalyssa and Carson of San Tan Valley, Arizona and Jacob and Alisyn of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers and their wives, Randy and Barb Wacheldorf of Moorhead, Iowa, Denny and Nancy Wacheldorf of Omaha, Nebraska, and Greg and Lisa Wacheldorf of Concord, North Carolina; along with many other relatives and good friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Darlene Wacheldorf and one nephew, Stuart Wacheldorf. Burial of Janet's cremains was completed in a private family service, Saturday, August 30, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton next to her parents, Leonard and Darlene Wacheldorf. Barb Wacheldorf, Randy's wife, spoke at the inturnment. Armstrong Funeral Home made the arrangements.
