Henry Leo “J.R.” Christiansen III, age 60, of Jefferson, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Greene County Hospital of Jefferson, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Soldier Lutheran Church of Soldier, Iowa. Pastor Shari Schwedhelm will officiate; Interment will be at a later date. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Soldier Lutheran Church of Soldier, Iowa. Henry Leo “J.R.” Christiansen III, the son of Henry “Hank” and Darlene (Hopkins) Christiansen, was born on May 18, 1957, in Red Oak, IA. J.R.’s family moved to many places in South Dakota before they relocated to Ute, IA.
On October 09, 1976, J.R. married the love of his life Denise Straight in the Soldier Lutheran Church of Soldier, IA. The couple were blessed with a daughter they named Ashley. J.R. had various occupations throughout his life. He enjoyed driving-semi and hauling the U.S. mail.
J.R. was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed attending drag races, and watching WWE wrestling. He treasured spending time with his two granddaughters Claire and Madison. They were the light of his life.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Denise Christiansen of Jefferson, IA; daughter Ashley (John) Cooke of Jefferson, IA; granddaughters Claire and Madison Cooke; brothers Allan (Chris) Christiansen and Lorne (Brenda) Christiansen both of Ute, IA; In-laws Mr & Mrs. Geoff Lake of Dunlap, IA; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and niece Amanda Christiansen.
