Helen LaVonne Briggle, the daughter of Henry and Olive (Sharkey) Peters, was born on April 26, 1933, on the family farm just north of Danbury, Iowa. She was raised in the Danbury area and received her education at St. Mary’s Elementary and St. Patrick’s Academy graduating with the class of 1950.

After graduation, Helen was united in marriage to Duane “Bud” Marsh. She was a homemaker at the time living in the Des Moines, IA area. The couple would later part ways. Helen remained in Des Moines and began working at Look Magazine. She married Dale Briggle and to this union a daughter, Kristi, was born. The couple would later separate and Helen returned to her hometown of Danbury to live. She was employed as a housekeeper in Danbury and later was a librarian at Maple Valley Junior High until her retirement.

Helen and her daughter, Kristi, were best friends and inseparable. Helen enjoyed staying in Sioux City with her daughter and her furry grandson, Herky, at least once or twice a month until her health started declining. She was currently staying with Kristi up until the time of her passing.

Helen was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who loved to have company and drink coffee with friends. She was a crafty lady who loved cross stitching, coloring, decorating pinecones, and painting. Helen was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury.

Helen was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. She would like you to know that her work here is done. She may be gone but will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter Kristi Leiting and furry grandson Herky of Sioux City, IA; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother James “Jim” (Dixie) Peters of Mapleton, IA; and sister Barbara Franzkowiak of Ida Grove, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Olive Peters; and sister Betty Edkin; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
