Obituary for Gail "Sparky" Brant
Gail "Sparky" Brant was born to Ira and Jennie (Dimment) Brant on October 8th, 1927 at Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up east of Anthon where he continued to live until suffering a stroke. He graduated from Anthon High School in 1944.ξHis life's work was the operation of heavy equipment. He loved all animals and kept both domestic and wild animals. Fixing anything mechanical was a special talent of Sparky's. Sparky married Luella Christophersen in December of 1949 and to this union two sons were born. Sparky is survived by his two sons, Daniel Brant and his wife, Velma Sohm Brant of Anthon and Dennis Brant of Mt. Vernon, Iowa. The grandchildren and great grandchildren are Jesse and Angela Brant of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and their children, Quinn, Henry, and Owen, Zachary Brant of Anthon, Nicholas Brant of Shiloh, Illinois, Jennie Brant and Scott Shever of Correctionville and their children, Alison and Abigail, and Ryan and Rebecca Brant of Davenport, Iowa and Adrienne and Aaron Ruther of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is also survived by a sister, Bonnie Hamer of Battle Creek, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Molly Brant of Correctionville, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Jennie: and brothers, Vern and Charles (Bill) Brant.
