Obituary for Frank Crilly
Frank Crilly Danbury, IA - Frank Crilly, 64, of Danbury, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his home in rural Danbury with his wife, Bonnie, and daughter, Anne, by his side. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto, Iowa with Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in rural Oto. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a Vigil Wake service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Francis Eugene Crilly was born May 14, 1950, at Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Paulesca (Weber) Crilly. He grew up on the family farm with his two brothers and four sisters, residing there until his death. He attended school through second grade at the Oto School and then entered Maple Valley School at Mapleton. He graduated with the class of 1968 from Maple Valley High School. Frank excelled at football in high school and was recognized as an All State Football Player and was inducted into the Sioux City Hall of Fame his Senior year in high school. Frank married Bonnie Jochims on December 23, 1976, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto and they made their home on the farm where he grew up. After high school, Frank worked on road construction for a short time and later worked as a "Blade Man" for Woodbury County, retiring in 2009. He would, however, describe his life's work as farming. His last wish was to spend his final days looking out on the land he loved. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto and was avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Anne of West Des Moines, Iowa; his beloved dog, Booger; siblings, Betty (Don) Fink of Deloit, Iowa, Dianne Crilly of West Des Moines, Iowa, Delores Polley of Raleigh, North Carolina, Tom Crilly of Moville, Iowa, Lois Crilly of Urbandale, Iowa, and Rick (Donna) Crilly of Anthon, Iowa; and in-laws, Belinda (Dave) Bartels of Mapleton, Iowa, Birdie Jochims of Mapleton, Iowa, and Niece Jochims of St. Petersburg, Florida; aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Paulesca Crilly; mother-in-law, Pearl Jochims; in-laws, Barb Gosch, Bev McDermott, Dewey Jochims, and Randy Jochims.
