Obituary for Evva Mauch
Evva Addaline Mauch was born May 8, 1925, at Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Olive (Leach) Greenough. She grew up in the Soldier - Castana area where she attended country school. On June 10, 1942, she married Vernon Mauch at Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple made their home and raised their family of eight children in the Castana area. After the children were out of the home, Evva joined her husband as he worked away from home in road construction and later worked with him on the same sites. Vernon passed away January 15, 1989. Evva continued to live at home until her health started to fail and she resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Doris, at Soldier. In 2005, she became a resident at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa, where she lived until the time of her death. She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Castana. Survivors include two sons, Jim Mauch and his wife Doris of Soldier, Iowa and Rusty Mauch of Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Lyle Hale of Dallas Center, Iowa and Linda and Warren Kamm of Van Meter, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. Along with her husband, Evva was preceded in death by her parents; four sons, Ron, Daniel "Whitey", Vernon, Jr., and Jerry; one sister, Eva; and three brothers, Charles, Walter "Buck", and Glenn.
