Obituary for Evelyn M. Knuth
Evelyn M. Knuth Mapleton, Iowa - Evelyn M. Knuth, 93, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa. A Memorial service will be Saturday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 506 Walnut Street in Mapleton with Rev. Pastor Scott Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton. Visitation will be that day from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. There will also be a Prayer Service at 9:00 a.m. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Evelyn Mae Knuth, the daughter of Frederick and Sophia (Laue) Bockhop was born on October 22, 1918, on a farm in Liberty Township near Paulina, Iowa, where she grew up and graduated from Gaza High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Richard B. Knuth of Germantown, Iowa, on March 20. 1938 at Storm Lake, Iowa. The couple lived in Storm Lake and Paulina before moving to Mapleton in 1951. Richard and Evelyn owned and operated the Mapleton Processing Plant from 1951 until their retirement. Richard passed away May 15, 1988. As a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Evelyn served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was active in LWML and other programs. She participated in community activities, enjoyed reading, needlework, playing bridge and socializing with friends, and was a loving mother and grandmother to her family. Along with her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by three sisters; one brother; one son, Dennis; and one grandchild. Survivors include two sons, Roger and wife Kay (Green) Knuth of Harshaw, Wisconsin and Rick Knuth of Mapleton; one daughter Linda (Knuth) and husband Rodger Miller of Mapleton; one daughter-in-law Joan (Hamman) Knuth of Weston, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews; and friends.
