Eileen E. Knudsen, age 83, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate; Committal Services will be held in the Soldier Valley Cemetery of Pisgah, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Holy Family Catholic Church of Mondamin, Iowa. Eileen was born January 8, 1935 in Columbus Nebraska to William and Viola Lohr. She graduated from Cathedral High school in Omaha, Nebraska. Eileen was a stay at home mom and then worked in the kitchen at St. Robert Bellarmine School. She worked at Omaha Public Schools until she retired.
Eileen married Earl H. (Bud) Knudsen, Jr. on June 19, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska and they resided in Germany, Omaha, NE, Pisgah, IA, Ute, IA and Mapleton, IA.
Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge with longtime friends and spending 17 winters with Bud in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Survivors include her children: Chris Knudsen of Mead, NE; Rich and Julie Knudsen of Manilla, IA; Steve Knudsen of Atlanta, GA; Tom (Ed) and Jodi Knudsen of Olathe, KS; Cathy and Richards Carstens of Ute, IA; Joe and Karla Knudsen of Council Bluffs, IA; Dan and Jen Knudsen of Omaha, NE; and Peggy and Dale Gibson of Pensacola, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Caregiver and special friend Julie Dobernecker.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Earl H. (Bud) Knudsen, her parents, sister Virginia Cook, and brother Alan Lohr.
