Obituary for Dorothy B. Anderson
Dorothy B. Anderson, 92, of Correctionville died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Calvin Community in Des Moines, Iowa with her daughter and son-in-law at her bedside. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Correctionville, Iowa with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5 from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at the church. ξ Armstrong Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa has been entrusted with the arrangements. ξξξξ Dorothy B. was born June 19, 1920 to John and Jennie (Ballantyne) Barker of Correctionville. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1938.ξ She married Verlin Anderson in 1940. Dorothy B. worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until1960,ξ In 1962 the couple purchased what was for 45 years Anderson Sundries. Dorothy B. loved her heavenly Father, her family and many friends.ξ She was a member of the Church of Christ.ξ She loved dancing and the C'ville Senior Citizens group. ξξξξ Dorothy B. is survived by her son James (Marilyn) of Sioux City and her daughter Barbara (Bill Springer) of Des Moines, daughter-in-law Rita Anderson of Fort Dodge and her brother John (Jean) Barker of Lake View. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brian (Hope) Anderson, April (Doug) Siepker, Corey Anderson, Patrick (LuRece) Springer, Shannon Springer, Spencer Springer (wife Natalie Walter), Jason (Julie) Anderson, Jenny (John) Powers, Joy (Matt) Rauscher, twenty great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. ξξξξ She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Verlin, son Billy Jo, daughter-in-law Sharon, two great great granddaughters and her parents.ξ Although Dorothy B. moved from Correctionville for senior care, her heart remained in her hometown.
