Dorothy Ann (Wieling) Boyle was born on a farm north of Danbury, Iowa, on May 4, 1931, to John and Anna (Fleischman) Wieling. She attended Union Grove #3 Country School, St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in 1948.

On October 25, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Vincent Boyle in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa, by her brother Father Ray Wieling. In 1963 the couple purchased their forever home, a farm located north of Danbury on Dutch Hollow. Dorothy and Vincent were blessed with 10 children: Dennis, John, Mike, Mary, Joan, Ann, Pat, Larry, Lynn, and Ron.

As a mother of 10 children, Dorothy loved her family and was very proud of them. She enjoyed being a homemaker and farm wife. In the summer months she liked planting and tending to a large garden, as well as canning the crop it produced. After her children were raised, Dorothy worked outside the home for eight years at a local group home in Battle Creek, Iowa.

In 1994, the couple retired and relocated to the house they built in Danbury. Dorothy delighted in a good game of cards, playing BINGO, trips to the casino, and wintering in Arizona over the last 29 years. She developed a true passion for quilting over the years and delighted in giving them to family and the St. Mary’s Church auction. Dorothy was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, where she volunteered her time to the Rosary Society. She had a great sense of faith and devotion to her Catholic faith taking pride in reciting her daily Rosary. Some of her most treasured memories were her trips to Fatima and Medjugorje.

Left to carry on her memory are her husband of 74 years Vincent Boyle of Danbury, IA; children: Dennis (Bonnie) Boyle, John (Ellen) Boyle, Mike (June) Boyle, and Mary Dupre (Orrin Johnson) all of Danbury, IA, Joan Gunnick of Grand Coulee, WA, Ann Horstman of Battle Creek, IA, Pat Boyle (Joyce Kafton), Larry (Shelly) Boyle both of Danbury, IA, Lynn (Fred) Sohm of Sioux City, IA, and Ron (Kim) Boyle of St. Charles, IA; 33 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren; sister Marian “Cat” Trucke of Mapleton, IA; sister-in-law Maria Wieling of Athens, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Wieling; siblings: Father Ray Wieling, Edward Wieling, and Alice (Melvin) Boysen; and brother-in-law Ed Trucke; daughter-in-law Lynn (Welte) Boyle; and granddaughter Mariah Sohm.
