Dorothy Jean Zediker, age 93, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023, at her daughters’ residence of Carroll, Iowa.
A Public Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Armstrong Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, followed by a Graveside Service at 2:30 p.m., in the Heisler Cemetery of rural Mapleton, with Pastor Mike Fillmore officiating.

Dorothy Jean Zediker, the daughter of Orris and Malinda (Wiese) Pyle, was born on November 1, 1929, in Schaller, Iowa. She grew up in Schaller where she received her education in country school and later graduated from Schaller High School.
On September 17, 1949, Dorothy married her sweetheart Clark Zediker, Sr. and the couple made their home in Schaller before relocating to Mapleton, Iowa, in 1955. Over the years, Dorothy worked as a CNA at Maple Heights Nursing Home and as a cook at the R&R café in downtown Mapleton. Dorothy and Clark later became foster parents to numerous children while Dorothy ran her in-home daycare.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, gardening, baking homemade breads and pies, babysitting her grandchildren, bird watching, tending her flowers, collecting frog memorabilia, and watching America Says and Wheel-A-Fortune. In her younger years, Dorothy also belonged to the local bowling league.
Survivors include her children Linda Hanson of Charter Oak, IA, Clark (Rene) Zediker, Jr. of Denison, IA and Tracy Ehlers of Carroll, IA; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Orris and Malinda Pyle; husband Clark Zediker, Sr.; son Jeff Zediker; daughter Christie Zediker; and siblings Corine, LaVonne, and Donnie.
