Obituary for Donna M. Castle
Donna M. Castle, age 73, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the MercyOne Siouxland Regional Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary service at 6:45 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa.

Donna Mae (Fitzpatrick) Castle was born to Daniel J. and Laura Irene (Christensen) Fitzpatrick on October 5, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Danbury, Iowa, and attended Danbury Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1966.
After graduation Donna worked at a Sioux City bank and at the Mapleton Nursing Home. She was united in marriage to Donald Castle on November 20, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury. The couple made Mapleton, Iowa, their lifetime home and raised their two daughters, Kimberly and Mandy, there. Donna was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served as secretary for 29 years and as a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Guild. Donna loved to crochet and sew, often making clothes for her daughters. Gardening and growing cactus were some of her favorite pastimes.
Donna adored all of her grandchildren. She taught her grandson Shane to drive using the cemetery lanes, and he in turn would plan “dates” for her and Grandpa.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Donald of Mapleton, IA; daughters Kimberly (Scott) Pederson of Beresford, SD and Mandy (Joe) Conger of Beaver Creek, MN; grandchildren: Shane Dancso, Shawn Pederson, Sarah Pederson, Austin Allen, Cameron Allen, and Kaitlin Conger; brother Dan (Keri) Fitzpatrick of Schleswig, IA; four sisters: Barb (Jack) Weber of Ida Grove, IA, Susan (Larry) Lund of Battle Creek, IA, Janet Pithan of Danbury, IA and Cindy (Randy) Mildenstein of Ida Grove, IA; sister-in-law Barb Castle of Mapleton, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Laura Fitzpatrick; brother-in-law Bill Castle; niece Kara Pithan and nephew Larry Lund, Jr.
