Donald E. “Donny” Grant, age 57, of Turin, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at his residence of Rural Turin, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Minister Jocquelyn Girdner will officiate. Donald “Donny” Eugene Grant of Rural Turin, Iowa, beloved son, brother, husband, and father went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Donny the son of Gerald “Lefty” and Evelyn (McDermott) Grant, was born on November 22, 1958, in Pisgah, Iowa. Donny graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1977.
Donny enlisted into the Army National Guard in 1977 and later served in the United States Army overseas in Korea. He was honorably discharge in 1986. On June 16, 1990, Donny was united into marriage to Becky Murphy.
Donny will be remembered as a fun loving, joyful spirt who had a zest for life. He treasured spending time with his family especially joking with and spoiling his grandchildren. Having a love for the great outdoors, Donny enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family.
Left here until we meet again are his loving wife, Becky Grant of Turin, Iowa; children, Luke (Marcie) Shook of Gretna, Nebraska, Dane (Becca) Grant of Sioux City, Iowa, and Miranda Dawdy (Evan Shuck) of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren: Phoenix Johnson, Jason Shuck, Aiden Dawdy, Jenna Shuck, Jeremiah Shuck, Jasmyn Eden, Jordyn Dawdy, Braxton Shook; mother, Evelyn Grant of Le Mars, Iowa; brothers, Fudd Grant of Ida Grove, Iowa, Barney Grant of Castana, Iowa, Pooh Grant of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Billy Grant of Sentinel, Oklahoma; sisters, Shirley (Jim) Kinney of Le Mars, Iowa, and Shelia Grant of Jacksonville, Florida; special friends, Vickie Smith and Barb Palmer; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Donny was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Lefty” LeRoy Grant Sr.; daughter, Tiffany Grant; brother, Gerald “Jerry” Grant, Jr.; and two nephews; sister-in-law, Dawn Grant.
