Dillion D. Hunter Ute, IA - Dillion D. Hunter, 85, of Ute, Iowa died Friday, July 8, 2014, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. There will be a private family graveside service at St. Clair Cemetery at Ute at a later date. Armstrong Funeral Home of Ute and Mapleton is in charge of the arrangements. Dillion D. Hunter, 85, of Ute, Iowa passed away Friday, August 8, 2014, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born to Joe and Marty (Edwards) Hunter on June 1, 1929 in Alta, Iowa. He grew up in Moorhead, Iowa. He joined the Army and served in the Korean War from 1950 until 1953. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1950. After returning from Korea, he worked in Omaha at the Lincoln/Mercury Service Department. Dillion moved to Ute in 1959 and managed the Skelly/Texaco Service Station. He married Patricia McGehee at the Methodist Church in Onawa, Iowa. He retired in 1999 after 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Aaby Post #442 and the VFW Post #5605, both of Ute. He served on the Ute Fire Department and belonged to the Ute Commercial Club. He loved fishing and hunting. He was an avid card player and enjoyed the friendship of his many fellow players. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; his sons, J.L. (Kim) of Lanark, Illinois and C.D. of Ute, Iowa; his daughter, Sheila (Jerry) Hanigan of Dunlap, Iowa; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Hunter of Carlsbad, California and Frank Hunter of Los Angeles, California; a brother-in-law, Lee Olson of Sioux City, Iowa; two sisters, Lillian (Gordon) Carritt of Ute, Iowa and Lois (Ed) Nagel of Sioux City, Iowa. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Kenneth (Barb),Twiford and Keith Hunter; and sisters, Twila (John) Rustin, Reva Olson, and Arladine (Jerry) Deloss.
