Obituary for Dennis "Denny" Lee Ruchti
Dennis “Denny” L. Ruchti, age 73, of Mapleton, Iowa and Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his residence of Mapleton, Iowa.

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Lay Speaker Don Wood will officiate. A Visitation will be held prior from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Committal Services will be held at a later date in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Dennis “Denny” Lee Ruchti, the son of Cornelius and Meta (Hauschildt) Ruchti, was born on February 14, 1948, in Mapleton, Iowa. He grew up on a farm northwest of Mapleton and received his education at Mapleton High School. After his schooling was completed, he entered the job corps in Nebraska. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 6, 1968 and was stationed in multiple locations; lastly being in Korea where he met the love of his life, Kum “Becky” Cha Pak.

On October 1, 1969, Dennis and Becky were married in Seoul, Korea. Upon Dennis’ honorable discharge in 1970, the couple returned to Mapleton prior to relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were blessed with a daughter, Tracy. After Becky passed away in 1974, Dennis and Tracy returned to Mapleton to be closer to family. Throughout his lifetime Dennis was employed at various locations as a mechanic or long-haul truck driver. In 1998 Dennis moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, where he was working as a mechanic. At the time of his passing, Dennis was in the process of relocating back to Iowa.

In his younger days, Dennis enjoyed not only racing stock cars but watching races. He enjoyed fishing, country dancing, collecting Volkswagens, and was a CB/ham operator. Dennis treasured time spent with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory include daughter Tracy (Dan) Healy of Sergeant Bluff, IA; grandchildren Hannah and Austin Healy; brothers Bruce Ruchti of Mapleton, IA, Duane Ruchti of Mapleton, IA, Larry Ruchti of LeMars, IA and Jeff (Candy) Ruchti of Swiss Home, OR; sisters Deanna Lawson of Mapleton, IA and Donna Myers of Whiting, IA; sister-in-law Debbie Ruchti of Onawa, IA; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cornelius and Meta Ruchti; his wife Kum “Becky” Cha Pak; brothers Mark and Leon Ruchti; sister Cheryl Ruchti (in infancy); sister-in-law Judy Ruchti; brothers-in-law Lloyd “Shorty” Myers, Sr. and Albert Lawson.
