Obituary for Delia Lane
Ute, IA - Delia Lane, 87, of Ute, Iowa and formerly of Ticonic, Iowa passed away, Monday, March 26, 2012, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa with her family at her side. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Len Garrison officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Township Cemetery near Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Delia Mae (Parkhill) Lane was born November 25, 1924, at Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Charlie Thomas and Edith Melvina (Warner) Parkhill. She grew up in the Oto area with her two sisters and five brothers, In 1942, she graduated from Oto High School. Supporting the war effort, Delia worked producing war related products in Washington State. On December 5, 1945, Delia was united in marriage to Gordon Milford Lane at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple first farmed in Monona County between Mapleton and Ute. They later moved to Ticonic, Iowa where they raised their family. They lived there except for a short time in the early 70's when they lived in West Des Moines. Gordon passed away February 23, 2004. Delia has been living in Ute with her daughter the past several years. She was a member of the American Legion Grimsley-Thayer Auxiliary Unit #502 of Castana, Iowa. Survivors include Delia's four children, Sharon K. Lanvermeier and her husband, Steve, of Old Monroe, Missouri, Michael "Coke" Lane and his wife, Colleen, of Mapleton, Iowa, Roxann Ohlmeier and her special friend, Lonny West, of Ute, Iowa, and Jeffrey S. Lane of Loveland, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one sister and her husband, Evelyn "Peg" and Chet Claus of Smithland, Iowa. Along with her husband, Delia was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Virgil, James, Wilbur, Charles, and Russell Parkhill; and one sister, Maisel Cameron.
