David “Butch” Harlow was born May 2, 1949, to William and Mary (Hobbs) Harlow in Sacramento, California. Butch graduated from South Tahoe High School in Lake Tahoe, California, before beginning his career at the Lake Valley Fire Department. After retiring from the fire service, Butch worked in the roofing and construction trades for many years prior to retiring due to health reasons.
Along with his life partner, Cindy, Butch enjoyed playing and coaching slow pitch softball, fishing, and just spending time in the great outdoors. Cindy and Butch left Lake Tahoe in 1995 to make their home in Anthon, Iowa, near Cindy’s family. After moving, they regularly returned as vacationers to Lake Tahoe to see their friends and family in that area.
Butch was a man of few words but those who loved him knew how deeply he cared for them also.
Survivors include Butch’s partner of 37 years, Cindy (Welte) Harlow; brothers Roger (Cyndi) Harlow and Richard Harlow of California; sisters Judy Specht of Nevada and Sandy Pilgrim of Montana; numerous nieces and nephews.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary, and his sister Sally.
