Dale Leroy Savery, the son of Roy and Mabel (Torgesen) Savery, was born December 27, 1931, in Moorhead, Iowa. Dale was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school in rural Soldier, IA. After school, he began farming.

On September 12, 1954, Dale was united in marriage to Virgia Johnson in the Moorhead Lutheran Church. Dale enlisted into the U.S. Army after their marriage and was stationed in Germany as a tank mechanic. During that time their first son, Don, was born. Upon his honorable discharge, Dale returned home to Soldier, IA, to continue farming and raise his growing family which included the addition of two more sons: Jeff and Gregg. Dale and Virgia retired in 1985 and moved to Bentonville, AR. When his wife passed away in 2014, Dale returned to Soldier, IA for the summers and wintered in Phoenix, AZ.

Dale loved going to garage sales and collecting toys for his grandchildren. He could often be found chauffeuring his grandchildren to and from school or their activities; something he very much relished doing. Dale enjoyed a good barbecue and sitting around the fire visiting with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory include his sons Don (Mary Ann) Savery of Soldier, IA, Jeff (Shawn) Savery of Peoria, AZ and Gregg Savery of Fayetteville, AR; five grandchildren: Kyle (fiancé Ellie) Savery of Des Moines, IA, Bryan (Molly) Savery of Onawa, IA, Jayme (significant other Ryan) Savery of Murfreesboro, TN, Addison Savery of Peoria, AZ and Chase Savery of Peoria, AZ; one great-grandchild on the way; sister Arlene (Richard) Wessel of Denison, IA; sister-in-law Donna Savery of Soldier, IA; brother-in-law Max Siemer of Princeton, MO.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Virgia Savery; his parents Roy and Mabel Savery; brother Ardell Savery; sister Mary Siemer.
