Christine R. Rieger, age 91, of Decatur, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ: Decatur Branch. Elder Gene Smith will officiate the service, with the committal services following in the Hillcrest Cemetery of Decatur, Nebraska. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ: Decatur Branch. Christine Ann Rieger, 91, of Decatur, Nebraska was born September 1, 1925, in Decatur, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Busse) Johnson. She was educated in the area attending the local high school.
Christine and Edmund Rieger were united in marriage on November 12, 1942, in Seattle, Washington. Two children were born to this union, Judy and Donald.
They lived in several places, but most of their marriage they were located around Decatur where they ran Rieger’s Cottage Inn for over 20 years. Edmund passed away March 7, 2004.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as making plastic canvas items and velvet marker pictures.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Judy Davis of Decatur, Nebraska; her son, Donald Rieger of Priest River, Idaho; two sisters, Doris Ferguson of Tekamah, Nebraska and Lois Webster also of Tekamah, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her beloved husband, Edmund, Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Johnson; two brothers, Melvin and Vernon Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Bert Ferguson and Vic Webster; two granddaughters, Shannon Riley and Sheila Liss; and one grandson-in-law, Rollin Glawe.
