Obituary for Charlotte Behmer
Des Moines, IA - Charlotte Behmer, age 78, of Des Moines, Iowa and formerly of Ute, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.ξ Services will be Thursday, February 21, 2013ξat 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 20ξfrom 5 p.m. to 7ξp.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 501 South Day Ave., Ute, Iowa. Charlotte was born March 29, 1934 to Louie and Etta Seieroe on a farm near Dunlap, IA.ξ She lived her life as a very loving and giving person.ξ Charlotte attended country school and then went to the Ute Consolidated School where she graduated in 1952.ξ She loved playing basketball while in high school and after graduation attended the AIB Business School in Omaha, NE on a basketball scholarship.ξ She retired from Department of Human Services in Des Moines. Charlotte married Jack Behmer, August 28th, 1955.ξ They divorced in 1981. Three children were born to this union: Mark, Bradley and Jane.ξ The family lived in Atlantic and Clear Lake.ξ Charlotte drove school bus for many years.ξ She enjoyed gardening.ξ She prided herself on gooseberry pie and rhubarb upside down cake. ξShe loved playing cards and entertaining the family with such antics as "walking through the broom". ξξShe greatly enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and her grandchildren. Charlotte is survived by son, Mark of Sheldahl, Iowa, daughter Jane of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers Leonard (Pat) of Ute and Tom (Judy) of Sac City; sister-in-law Ruth (Wes) Seieroe of Ute;ξ7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.ξ She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Elmer (Helen), Harold (Irene), Wesley, and Edward; and her loving son Bradley.
