Charles V. “Chuck” Hancock, the beloved son of Ronald and Karen (West) Hancock, was born on April 3, 1964, in Pueblo, Colorado. He grew up in Aurora, Colorado, and graduated with the Gateway High School Class of 1982.
After graduation, Chuck worked at Jackson Ice Cream in Denver, Colorado. On June 29, 1983, he married his high school sweetheart, Jaclynn “Jackie” Worrell, in Aurora. Together, they were blessed with six children: Casey, Shannon, CJ, Caleb, Shealie, and Cole.
In 1994, the family relocated to their forever home in Climbing Hill, Iowa. Chuck began a career in construction with Klinger Construction as a laborer and working his way up to labor foreman. Chuck would often bid side jobs outside of work creating more opportunity to spoil kids and grandkids alike. He was fondly known among coworkers and friends as “Concrete Charlie.”
Chuck was a well known one sided conversationalist and if you know you know! He often considered strangers friends. He was the first to offer a helping hand looking for nothing in return. He enjoyed fishing accompanied by cold beer, shooting guns, and tinkering with old cars (especially his cherished 1957 Chevy he bought in high school). Known for his quick wit and humor, Chuck was a master storyteller and a rescuer of animals of all kinds.
One of Chuck’s greatest joys was watching his family grow and earning the title of “Grandpa.” He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and his soulmate, Jackie, who made life worth living.
Chuck was welcomed into his heavenly home by his father, Ronald Hancock, and grandmother, Hazel West.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Jackie Hancock of Climbing Hill, IA; his children: Casey (Jacci) Hancock of Aurora, CO; Shannon (Mitch) Benjamin of Blue Springs, MO; CJ (Jessica) Hancock of Sloan, IA; Caleb (Lakin) Hancock of Moville, IA; Shealie Hancock of Colorado Springs, CO; and Cole Hancock of Climbing Hill, IA; and his adored grandchildren: Grady, Grant, Greyson, Gibson, and Delilah Benjamin; Camden, Hadlee, Aila, Skylee, and Gemma Hancock; Elsie and Ellie Hancock; and Palmer and Sawyer Hancock. He is also survived by his mother, Karen Schroeder of Avondale, AZ; his sister, Mindy Easton of Colorado; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
