Obituary for Chad T. Petersen
Anthon, IA - Chad T. Petersen, 46, of Anthon, Iowa passed away, Friday, January 23, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa due to injuries sustained in a car accident. The funeral service will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Anthon Community Center, 110 North 5th Ave., Anthon, Iowa. Shirley Nelson will officiate. Chad Thomas Petersen was born March 8, 1968, at Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Tom A. and Patricia Kay (Bernard) Petersen. He grew up in the Anthon area, the community he loved. Chad graduated from Anthon-Oto High School with the class of 1986. During school, Chad was on the basketball team, was a drummer in the band, and was involved in speech contests. Immediately after high school, he moved to Sioux City and worked for John Morrell for years. While in Sioux City, Chad also worked as a DJ for multiple clubs over time, a gig he thoroughly enjoyed. Chad eventually returned to his hometown of Anthon. He worked for Stan Petersen and was currently working for Pithan Feed Lots. He was a hard worker, showing up every day. Chad married Stephanie Ahrendsen May 28, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon. He saw things in every day living that others may not have seen like a stunning sun set or a goofy sign and would capture the moment on his phone. He loved his phone and the internet and was convinced he would someday be famous for his moment going viral on You Tube. Chad loved his family, especially his wife and two young children. He was involved with the Rec Ball Program where he coached t-ball. He also helped out at the Anthon Community Center, as well. He loved to entertain people but always got "the last word in". His memory brings smiles to those that knew him. Family members surviving Chad are his wife, Stephanie and their two children, daughter, Caylee and son, Aiden, all at home; his father, Tom A. Petersen of Anthon; one brother and his wife, Shane and Tiffani Petersen of Anthon; one sister, Angela Petersen of Anthon; his maternal grandmother, Marg Bernard of Correctionville; his mother-in-law, Michelle Bean and her friend, Eva Taylor of Anthon; his father-in-law, Greg Ahrendsen of Anthon; one sister-in-law, Ashley Ahrendsen of Sioux City and her fiancee, Josh Nelson; and seven nieces and nephews, Taylor, Tristen, Alivya, Landon, Ian, Pyper, and Shaelyn. Chad was preceded in death by his mother, P. Kay Petersen in 1988; his paternal grandparents, Ray and Fern Petersen; and his maternal grandfather, Wilfred Bernard. Go #teamchad!
