Cathy (Ford) Rodenburg Mapleton, IA - Cathy (Ford) Rodenburg, 48, of Mapleton, Iowa died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Services will be Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa with Pastor Karen Garrison officiating. The family requests that those attending dress casually as Cathy would appreciate. Burial will be Grant Cemetery in rural Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton is in charge of the arrangements. Cathy Rose (Ford) Rodenburg was born June 26, 1963, at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Grace (Gilmore) Ford. She grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1981. After high school, she worked at Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. On June 18, 1983, she married Les Rodenburg at the Onawa Christian Church. They lived in Soldier, Quimby, Council Bluffs, and Danbury, moving when Les's job required a change of location. They later settled in Mapleton where she worked at the Maple Valley-Anthon Oto School as a Para Educator since 1993. Her responsibilities not only included interaction with the elementary children, but also a great deal of her time was spent working with Mahlon Carothers in the Athletic Department. Cathy was the kind of person who really enjoyed life and the fun time spent with her family and friends. She was easy to get to know and often expressed interest in others. If you knew Cathy, you had a friend! Survivors include her husband, Les of Mapleton; her son and his wife, Nathan and Kristin Rodenburg of Sioux City, Iowa; her father and mother, Jack and Grace Ford of Mapleton; four sisters and their husbands, Terri and Louis C. Reed of Castana, Iowa and their children, Louis P. Reed and his wife, Mindi and their children, Ethan and Logan and Renae Nichols and her husband, Adam and their children, Dena, Lance, and Troy, Vicki and Don Dorn of Sioux City, Iowa and their children, Lexy and Clint, Sandy and Howard Gripp of Hartland, Wisconsin and their children, Clayton, Darren, and Austin, Diane and Dean Lansink of Danbury, Iowa and their children, Mikayla, Brenna, and Collin; a sister-in-law, Joan Ford of Danbury, Iowa and her children, Nikki and Nick Welte and their children, Mia, Jaxson, Delani, and Ford and Kyle Ford; a sister-in-law and her husband, Jeanette and Denny Keanealy Logan, Iowa and their child, Daniel; two aunts, Verna Gilmore of Cocoa, Florida, and Maxine Gilmore of Cuba, Missouri; two uncles, Robert Gilmore and aunt, Gwen Gilmore of St. Louis, Missouri and Leonard Rodenburg of Missouri Valley, Iowa; along with many cousins; coworkers at school; and a multitude of very dear friends! She was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Ford; her maternal grandparents, Gorgen and Rose Gilmore; and her paternal grandparents, Lee and Wanda Ford.
