Carolynn “Nikki” Pierce, the daughter of Edward and Ruby (Rickert) Gosch, was born on June 3, 1942, on a farm near Danbury, IA. She attended country school and graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1960.

After graduation Nikki worked in a bank in Omaha, NE, then as a nanny in California where she lived with her sister Ruby. She returned to Omaha where she worked as a bookkeeper and met George “Tom” Pierce. The two were united into marriage in Bennington, NE, on March 29, 1969 and the couple made their home in Omaha. Nikki and Tom were blessed with two sons Jason and Mark.

While living in Omaha, Nikki and Tom took in and helped raise seven additional children in their two-story home. In 1995, the family relocated to Mapleton, IA. Nikki worked in the kitchen of the local school for a year, as a CNA at Maple Heights then at the local In-Home Health, then as a self-employed private caregiver.

Nikki was active in her community helping with the Open Cupboard, and belonged to the local American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed Bingo, going out to eat on Friday nights at the Beef-N-Brew, and most of all cherished her moments spent with her family.
