The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Buddy Earl Leisinger was born September 10, 1933, at Castana, Iowa, the son of Buddie and Edna (Karr) Leisinger. He grew up on the farm and was educated in the area and helped on the farm until joining the United States Navy. He entered September 24,1952 during the Korean War. He proudly served his country in active duty for four years with his terminal date of reserve obligation ending September 23, 1960. In 1965, Buddy married Barbara Malone. They were blessed with two sons, Craig and Buddy G. The family made their home in Ute where over the years Buddy worked at the Mobil Station, developed his own trucking business, worked at Gregerson's and the Coop Elevator. Buddy was a Charter Member of the Ute VFW Post #5605 when it was established in 1958. He remained very dedicated to the Post having served as Commander for 12 years, 9 of those consecutively. He was also an active member of the American Legion Aaby Post #442 of Ute where he served as their Financial Officer. He also volunteered on the Ute Fire Department. Buddy was a fan of the Yankees, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Fords, and Buddy G's and Kate's dogs. He enjoyed a good western, hunting, fishing, and playing cards but above most other activities, he loved his garden. Buddy lived in the garden and produced enormous amounts of all kinds of produce but "it was never enough!" Every season he tried to find room to plant more, harvest more, and store more in the cellar, always involving the entire family in the detailed work required. Buddy enjoyed his trucking years, having traveled countless times out there in the worst weather. Long after, he had dozens of stories to tell about those days and all that goes with it. Above all, Buddy loved his family and did his best to attend his grandkids activities. Those family members left to embrace their memories of Buddy include Barb, his wife of 43 years; two sons, Craig Leisinger and his wife, Allison, and Buddy G. Leisinger, all of Ute; three grandchildren, Christian, Katelyn, and Kirsten; one sister, Ruth Leisinger of Ute; brothers and sisters in-law. Frank and Loraine, Dell and Dorothy, Larry and Myrna, Mike, and Dar; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buddie and Edna Leisinger; two brothers, Gilbert and Othie Leisinger; and two sisters, Esther Melby and Mary Martz.
