Obituary for Bernard J. Kvidera
Bernard J. Kvidera Anthon, IA - Bernard J. Kvidera, 88 of Anthon, Iowa died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Floyd House in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Burial will be in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Anthon with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion McNiff Post #389 of Anthon. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Wake service at 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. Visitation resumes Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Bernard John Kvidera was born May 28, 1925, at Anthon, Iowa, the son of John and Loretta (Coyne) Kvidera. He grew up at Anthon and graduated from Anthon High School. He served his country in the United States Navy enlisting in 1943. Bernie furthered his education by completing six years of college at the University of Nebraska. He was employed with Swift and Company in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1973, he returned to Anthon where he also farmed for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon and was a member the American Legion McNiff Post #389 of Anthon. As an original stock holder and promoter of the Anthon Golf Course, Bernie remained very active in its function and operation over the years. Survivors include two brothers, Vince Kvidera of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and Dennis Kvidera and his wife, Mavis of Sioux City, Iowa; and two sisters, Catherine Neiman and Ann Dunn, both of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Joe, Fred, and Cyril.
