Obituary for Audrey Harrison
Audrey Harrison Battle Creek, IA - Audrey Harrison, 73, of Battle Creek, Iowa entered into the House of our Lord July 30, 2012, after a brief illness. There will be no public service. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa has been entrusted with the arrangements. On line condolences can be directed to the family and the obituary can be located at armstrongfuneral.com. Audrey Jean Harrison was born on a farm southeast of Holstein, Iowa on January 30, 1939 to Hans C. and Mable (Carter) Hansen, the seventh daughter of seven children. Audrey was raised in the Holstein, Ida Grove, and Battle Creek area. She attended Battle Creek High School and was the short stop on the 1955 Girl's State Champion softball team. Audrey married Duane Harrison on March, 17, 1955. To this union, three children were born. Also raised by Duane and Audrey was her nephew. The couple farmed in the Battle Creek area for 37 years and then moved in to town. Audrey worked for 17 years at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek where she was employed at the time of her illness. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. Audrey enjoyed spending time with and doing for her family. She was willing to try anything and would go along with whatever the family wanted to do. She enjoyed horses, snowmobiling, bike rides, camping, attending the local sporting events, motorcycling with Duane and their friends. She loved spending time with her grand kids. Audrey was a wonderful mother and wife. She was also an awesome cook and very good seamstress. She was "one of a kind" and could never be replaced. Audrey will be missed tremendously! Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Duane; her children, Kim (Dan) Hieber of Castana, Iowa, Kenneth Harrison, Todd (Karen) Harrison, and Roger (Eva) Kropf, all of Battle Creek, Iowa; her grandchildren, Darren (Emily), Drew, and Devon (Avery) Hieber, Dana (Jamie) Hanson, Casey Blackmore, Katelyn (Nick), Ty, and Kara Harrison; great grandchildren, Madison, Dillon, Sophia, Greyson, Dierks, Wyatt, Kaeson, and Brynlee Hieber: a sister, Bonnie DeJong of Battle Creek, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Myrl (Priscilla) Harrison of Sun City West, Arizona and Charles (Geneva) Harrison of Sun City, Arizona, and Pete Nielsen of Ida Grove, Iowa; and many, many more relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and husbands, Phyllis (Harold) Scott, Fern (Walter) Riessen, Deloris Nielsen, Audell (LeRoy) Kropf, and Veramae Hansen; and two brothers-in-law, Robert DeJong and Darrell Harrison.
