Obituary for Arlene Reimer
Arlene H. Reimer Danbury, IA - Arlene "Punk" H. Reimer, 70, of Danbury, Iowa and formerly of Omaha, Nebraska died at her home Saturday, March 2, 2013 surrounded by the loving presence of her family following a brave battle with cancer. The funeral Mass will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury with Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, March 4 after 4:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.and a Rosary by St. Mary's Rosary Society at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil Wake service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until Mass at the church. Armstrong Funeral Home of Danbury and Mapleton, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Arlene Helen Reimer was born August 19, 1942, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Bernice (Boysen) Reimer. Arlene was from a family of two sisters and one brother. Growing up Arlene lived on a farm near Danbury. She graduated from 12th grade from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1961. After high school, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked at Mutual of Omaha until 1996. Then she worked at Mutual and Medco Life Insurance from 1996 to 2005. Arlene was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Omaha. After retiring in 2005, she moved back to Danbury where she took care of her mother until she passed away in 2011. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury and was an active member of St. Mary's Rosary Society. Punk enjoyed crafts, painting, sewing, playing cards, gardening, yard work, walking, and doing things for others. Her greatest passion was her family, nieces, nephews and their children. Arlene has a sister, Marilyn Boyle of Battle Creek, Iowa, married to Robert Boyle; a brother, Paul Reimer of Danbury, Iowa married to Kay McCarthy; a sister, Lois Ekarius of Sealy Texas; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al in 1965 and Bernice Reimer in 2011; an infant brother; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Boyle and Marvin Ekarius.
