Anna B. Hayes, age 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Mapleton, Iowa passed away on August 18, 2016, at Grandview Heights of Marshalltown, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton, Iowa. The Rev. Jena Manchester will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Liston Township Cemetery of Danbury, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., August 27, 2016 at the St. John’s United Methodist Church, of Mapleton, Iowa. Anna B. Hayes the daughter of Arthur and Kate (Boss) Rydbom was born on December 8, 1924, in De Smet, South Dakota.
Anna was one of eleven children born to Arthur and Kate, she was raised on a farm in South Dakota where she attended Erwin Public Schools and graduated from Erwin High School with the class of 1942.
In 1944, Anna was united into marriage to Delbert M. Hayes and the couple made their home in Danbury, Iowa until 1962. Anna and Delbert were blessed with six children: LaVonne, Dan, Sheryl, Carol, Rick, and Randy.
After moving to Mapleton, Iowa, she worked for the local grocery store until she retired in 1995. Anna was an active member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton.
Anna treasured her extensive collection of clocks and enjoyed her flower garden, reading, traveling (especially her trip to Hawaii), decorating for the holidays and hosting her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, LaVonne (Arlo) Hildahl of Marshalltown, Iowa, Dan Hayes of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Sheryl (Don) Koenigs of Brandon, South Dakota, Carol (Randy) Steckelberg of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Rick (Karen) Hayes of Urbandale, Iowa, and Randy Hayes of Pleasantville, Iowa; grandchildren, Adam (Amy) Koenigs, Ginni Whelan, Hayes Sanborn, Stet Sanborn, Ryan Steckelberg, Ross (Jenna) Steckelberg, and Lyssa (Adam) VanCleave; great grandchildren, Austin, Sean and Josie Koenigs, Rex, Veda, and Dash VanCleave, Vivian Steckelberg, McKenna and Brady Whelan; brothers, Vernon Rydbom of La Crescent, Minnesota and Arthur Rydbom of De Smet, South Dakota; sister, Rose Ann Krause of Rockford, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Vivian Rydbom of Lacy, Washington and Marian Rydbom of Alexandria, South Dakota; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters: Lottie, Dorothy, and Ruby; four brothers: John, Barney, Albert, and Donald.
