Agnes E. McNear, age 90, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate; with Committal Services following in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Agnes E. McNear, the daughter of John and Victoria “Dora” (Flammang) Heisler, was born on June 10, 1927, in Mapleton, IA. A native of Mapleton, Agnes graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1945.
After high school, Agnes was employed at Drew Chevrolet and Mac Chevrolet in the bookkeeping department. On September 4, 1961, Agnes married Wilbur McNear in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton. To this union three sons were born Kent, Lynn, and Mark.
Agnes took pleasure in being a homemaker. She loved tending to her home, her lawn, flowers, taking trips, cooking, and attending church. Agnes belonged to the Red Hat Society and in her younger years enjoyed bowling.
Agnes treasured her time spent with family and will be remembered as a devoted Christian, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Kent McNear of Ute, IA, Lynn McNear of Ute, IA, and Mark McNear of Danbury, IA; grandchildren Brittany (David) Carter of Poplar Bluff, MO and Rylee McNear of Mapleton, IA; great-grandchildren Jackson, Roman and Remington; brother Jim Heisler of Amarillo, TX; special friends Taylor (Shane) Erlemeier and Tyler Blake; extended family and friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents John and Victoria “Dora” Heisler; husband Wilbur McNear; sister Annabelle (Dean) Nutt; brother Jack (Helen) Heisler; and infant brother Marion.
